Design AND Build
First, the smartphone does not have any notch design of any kind. But rather it comes with a unique flip-up design that houses the rear camera and front camera at same time. It’s rather called a rotating camera.
Samsung Galaxy A80 has a 6.7″-inch super Amoled screen with a rotating camera that houses triple lens. While on the left side we have the volume buttons and power button on the right side.
Moreover the SIM slot, USB type-c pot and speaker are all placed at the bottom of the phone. And for the record, there is no special button for Google assistant like there is in Samsung Galaxy S10. Also there is no micro SD card slot, and there is no headphone jack pot too (3.5mm Jack not available).
While at the back of the phone, there we have the noticeable tri-lens camera that flips up, rotate and also serve as the front camera. It’s amazing indeed! But sadly, the phone is not water proof. So you may want to be careful when around water.
Samsung Galaxy A80 has a big screen of 6.7″-inch super AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The display doesn’t have any notch design as mentioned earlier. Thus, you have the full screen display for yourself and this takes the aspect ratio to 20:9 and the screen-to-body ratio to 86%.
Moreover the screen is not QHD+ like the Samsung Galaxy S10 series but still it delivers spectacular clarity, it displays vibrant and punchy colors. Also, its performance is smooth and fast without any lag. And, the OLED panel displays accurate colors including deep blacks that are great for watching movies.
Software And Hardware
Samsung Galaxy A80 is powered by Qualcomm snapdragon 730 with a whooping 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage. Making multitasking looks so easy without lagging behind. The device is fast, and works smoothly.
On the gaming front, the Samsung Galaxy A80 can handle any game smoothly. It played graphic intense games at high quality or resolution. In short, It’s one of the best gaming phone I’ve reviewed so far this 2019.
Concerning the software of this smartphone, Samsung Galaxy A80 runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box on top Samsung’s own software; One UI.
More interesting too, is the fact that the Galaxy A80 might likely get an upgrade to Android 10 Q before the end of the year.

One outstanding feature of this phone is the camera. Athouth the camera interface is quite simple as we have seen before, but it’s also unique. In short, the Samsung Galaxy A80 camera is Sui Generis.
The images captured by the tri-lens rotating camera are crystal clear. The 48MP main shooter is proficient and the 8MP ultra-wide angle lens can cover up-to 120 degree.
• 48MP : Main Shooter
• 8MP : Ultra-wide angle lens
• 3D TOF sensor
More so, you can take an ultra-wide angle selfie picture too and also shoot quality 4K videos. Now that’s fantastic! Thus, with the rotating camera system, you can get the same quality of pictures for both back and front.
Samsung Galaxy A80 can chest out all games thrown at it. The smartphone is good for gaming. Heavy duty games like PUBG, FIFA 2019, PES 2019, and FORTNITE played smoothly without hanging.
Samsung could have done better here. The 3700mAh battery capacity is too small for this beast of a device. But again, it lasts for a day and a little more. However, it can’t go beyond that. But impressively, there is a fast charging system enabled to charge your device from 0% to 50% in just 30mins.
